Job Description

Marion Central School District is seeking a Cook to join our food service team. This is a 10-month position working 5 hours per day (7:30 AM-12:30 PM) with full benefits and participation in the New York State Retirement System. Enjoy a family-friendly schedule that follows the school calendar, including school breaks, holidays, and summer recess.

The Cook prepares and cooks food in large quantities while following standardized recipes and food safety regulations. This position supports the daily operation of the school cafeteria and works collaboratively with the food service team to prepare and serve nutritious meals for students. 

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of paid experience in large-scale cooking; or
  • Three (3) years of paid experience assisting in large-scale food preparation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow written and oral directions.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Prepare and cook food following standardized recipes.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely.
  • Assist with meal planning and food preparation.
  • Monitor food portions and minimize waste.
  • Work cooperatively with school staff and food service personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
